Writing in Ixtapa … it’s Back!

Dear friends,

I know I’ve been sending you a lot of emails during this launch—thank you for your patience and support. And I’ll keep this one short and sweet.

First, my husband and I got vaccinated last week! I hope that if you are still waiting, it won’t be much longer. It’s an incredible feeling, as if I could just rise up off the ground and fly. Thank you, science, and medical workers, and public health workers, and everyone else who made this possible.

Second, speaking of vaccination, the Elephant Rock Ixtapa Retreat for Writing & Yoga that was cancelled last March due to Covid is re-scheduled for November 13 - 20 2021!! And, because of reservation shifts at Present Moment since last year, I can take two more writers in a shared bungalow. Details are here. Let me know if you have questions! It’s a tiny, beautiful space and at present our small group (max 15 writers) have the center almost entirely to ourselves. Read more about it here and, if you are interested, good to be in touch quickly, as the other spots that opened were claimed within days last week.

Third, two of my favorite events of the book launch are this week. Tonight, Memoir Monday at 7 Central, where I’ll be in conversation with an all-star cast of writers talking about the craft. Join here! Thursday, a hometown launch reading hosted by the wonderful Magers & Quinn, where I’ll be joined in reading & conversation by Lilly Dancyger (Negative Space) and Gina Frangello (Blow Your House Down). Heidi Seaborn (Give a Girl Chaos) will moderate. Friends, these writers are so good!! I know their readings and insights will be powerful. You can watch here.

Fourth, I’ll be announcing the next sessions of Elephant Rock’s most beloved workshop ever, Writing in the Dark: Survival Strategies for Creating in Uncertain Times, later this week, so stay tuned. This virtual workshop saved my creative life and my sanity during the pandemic, and maybe it can boost yours, too. You can read about it here—the approach will remain the same, with one section for new students and a second section for alumnx. Just the dates will change.

Fifth, my birthday is coming up on April 9 and all I really want is Amazon reviews. If you have a moment to spare, well, you’re the best.

With love,

Jeannine
