Write With Me!

Dear Friends, Hello! I hope you are well as the green continues greening. I write today with two short announcements! On Wednesday May 12 at 7 Central, I’ll be reading and conversing with Keisha Bush, author of No Heaven for Good Boys, about the role of literature in lifting up our broken down world and inspiring the best in all of us. Keisha is fantastic and her novel is powerful and truly stunning. The event, hosted by the amazing folks at SubText Books, is free & virtual and includes an audience Q & A. We do so hope you will join us! Register here.Although I’m not quite yet offering in-person workshops (other than the Autumn in Ixtapa Retreat in November), I am offering the next session VII of Writing in the Dark, Elephant Rock’s most beloved workshop ever, starting mid-June. If you are new to Elephant Rock, the Wednesday Traditional section is the best entry point. Returning students (or new students by request and permission) are invited to join the Thursday Revisers workshop. Note: both sections are equally rigorous—the only distinction is that Thursdays include feedback via the Elephant Rock method, which you learn in WITD. That’s why it’s usually best for those new to the workshop to start with the Wednesday Traditional section. To note, this workshop is truly special and loved, and fills quickly. As one current student wrote recently, after winning a contest with one of her poems produced in WITD:“I want to say THANK YOU! This is the 5th piece written under your workshop umbrella that has either won something, been published, or both. And of course equal due goes to the other writers in these workshops, because the inspiration and energy is totally fueled by the discussions and amazing feedback. And it goes without saying, the community that comes with this stuff is stellar. If anyone wonders why I will shift my entire schedule around to stay in the classes, this is it!” For more information about WITD or to register, go here. Meanwhile thank you and much love to you all. You helped exceed my birthday goal of 100 reviews on Amazon (113 as of today!) and you have made my pandemic book launch so much more vibrant and joyful than I ever thought it could be. In fact, just last week a friend sent me this pic of my book on the recommended shelf at Powell’s! My heart literally leapt with joy!I am grateful to each and every one of you and I hold you dear in my thoughts as I work on this new novel. Thank you, thank you, thank you. With love, Jeannine
